Aruna Sairam was born in Mumbai to a musical family. She was trained in vocal music training from her mother Rajalakshmi Sethuraman and her father was Shri Sethuraman who was a music connoisseur.

Sangeeta Kalanithi T. Brinda, and other all-time Carnatic singers trained her. Aruna gave her mind-blowing performances nationally and internationally. She became the first Carnatic musician to perform at the BBC proms in London in 2011.

She was recognized for over 50 records in her name and has achieved fame by receiving numerous national and international awards, including the Padma Shri and the US Congress Proclamation of Excellence.
