Tertali Dance
Tertali dance is the beautiful is the beautiful Western folk dance originated from the state of Madhya Pradesh. The kamar tribe which is situated with in the northeastern part of Madhya Pradesh performs dance. many folk dances are practiced in Madhya Pradesh there is a large population of tribal community in Madhya Pradesh.
History
Tertali season ancient dance which is ritual in nature and is done by wearing Manjira or metallic cymbals. the dance is characterized by tying of metal symbols to different parts of the body as well as small sword clenched by womens teeth.
Description
The women sit on the floor and perform the dance. The women wear a veil while performing the dance.
Performance
The ritual dance which is performed by two or more women sitting on the ground whose bodies are tied with small metals or cymbals. Cymbals are stricken along with the with the beats as they are tied to their hands. Veil covers their head. The ornamental pot on their head is very difficult to balance while performing tertali. The women clench a small sword in between their teeth.
